Mission: Shakedown
Location: USS Andromeda - Deck 12 Sickbay
Timeline: MD4, 1000 Hours
1368 words - 2.7 OF Standard Post Measure

ON:

The turbolift opened up onto a main corridor access point on Deck 12, which was almost on top of Main Medical, also known as Sickbay. Out of that turbolift strode the Chief Engineering Officer for the Andromeda, one Lt. jg Lilura Siana Karakalakss. Other personnel in the corridor paused at seeing a 'furred gorn?' stride from the turbolift and head to the main access doors for Sickbay. As she walked, she nodded and waved to others, her tail also doing small waves as well.

The sickbay doors opened with Lilura entering the main station area with its consulting desk, where after that it lead to the main area for care as well as operations as needed. Of course, nearby were other such rooms, as well as Medical Laboratories, therapy rooms, isolation rooms, etc. Still, it seemed small for being on such a large vessel that had a crew and civilian compliment of over 1000 sentients at any given time.

The 6 foot 6 inch Furred Mammalian Sentient looking like a Dragon without wings approached the desk and smiled to the person behind it, saying, "Greetings, I am the Chief Engineering Officer, Lieutenant Lilura Karakalakss. I am here for my initial arrival check-in medical evaluation. Sorry it wasn't yesterday, but I was immediately put to work by the Starbase Personnel."

The nurse on the main Triage Desk nodded and looked at her schedule. "Ah yes. Dr Hope can see you in about five minutes if that's okay? She's just scrubbing down after a minor Op." she explained pleasantly with a smile. "Would you like to take a seat?" she offered, opening out her arm to a couple of seats not far from her own desk and just outside the main divider panels of the prime bays.

Lilura nodded, smiled to the nurse, then replied, "Neat name for a Doc, Hope, and it's more than fine. I scheduled myself to be here for an hour if need be." She moved over to the seat, then wrapped her tail around it to pick it up. With it in the air, she mischievously looked back to the nurse and asked, "Do I take the seat to another sick bay, my quarters, engineering..?"

"I'd prefer you kept it here please" the nurse smiled, amused.

Lilura's tail placed the chair down at a correct spacing to fit herself near the desk. She sad down while gently giggling, then said, "Sometimes it's just fun to misconstrue literal meanings within the colloquialisms of Galactic Terran." She smiled to the nurse and asked, "Do you have a favorite tea you like? I would love to try a cup of it if you do."

"I do, Lieutenant" the nurse answered. "I like Terran Red tea, from Kenya specifically. Hot but with no milk. The replicator to your left is ready programmed and in the habit of making lots of it." Still the pleasant smile.

Lilura nodded, smiling as her tail moved up and touched the replicator correctly to order the tea. As she did, she replied to the nurse, "Thank you. I love trying new beverages, and I have never tried that one before." The replicator hummed to life.

Just at that moment, Naiya Hope arrived looking around to wonder what was happening.

"Doctor Hope" the nurse said, a little relieved. "The Lieutenant here has popped in for her medical, just on the off chance. Can you fit her in Ma'am?"

"I think that'll be okay Marianne, thank you." Naiya replied, walking forward holding out her hand in introduction. "I've just finished a small procedure so I have a little while spare" she said to Lilura. "Naiya Hope" she completed the introduction, shaking the dinosaur's hand in a friendly greeting.

Lilura stood up to properly greet the Doctor. She returned the hand shake while performing a slight dip with her legs in a semi-curtsy and replied, "Lilura Karakalakss. I remember you from the party last night, sorry about not being able to get together for a chat." The replicator opened up and Lilura's tail reached in to grab the cup. Lilura motioned to Naiya, "Please, lead the way, Dr. Hope."

"This way please" Naiya replied with a smile and took Lilura through to one of the single bays on the right hand side.

Lilura glanced back at Marianne, then looked over to Naiya. "I hope Nurse Marianne is not too put off by me. As a non-telepath among L'Tandrey telepaths, I tend to be verbose as to match the emotions, pictures, and words that flow through their telepathic ability." She blushed, then said, "I'm trying to cut down on my word-smithing, honest, since I am among mostly non-telepaths now." She remembered about focus and others, so she redirected the conversation to include Naiya, instead of being only to Naiya. She finished with, "Umm, your procedure went well, I hope?"

"It did thank you. Very well." Naiya replied, setting up the bio bed's medarch by patting in the appropriate sequence of instructions with her agile fingertips on the LCARS panel. "Please make yourself comfortable on the bio-bed."

Lilura gladly laid down upon the bed. She shifted and got comfortable while the bed went through its diagnostic readings. Two separate heart beats appeared, each with their own blood pressure readings. Two separate ECG Brain scan readings also appeared, one from her head, and then one near the basal area of her tail/spine. A warning flashed about a deadly venom in venom sacs found in her upper jaw of her muzzle, each wrist, and each heel of the foot. The muscular system was very dense, while the bone structure was light, yet very tensile and strong due to its hexecellular structure formations. There were unusual organs along her sides highlighted. These were her electromagnetic sensory organs. Once the Solidarian charts were fully loaded, the readings showed Lilura to be in prime health, and near ovulation. There was also a scan marker note in her file that she had been through a biohazard scrub procedure to make sure she wasn't carrying any hazardous viral/bacterial/parasitical organisms that would adversely affect the crew. While she was immune to the nasties on her planet, that didn't mean others were, and so the reason for the procedure.

Lilura's tail moved to curve below her feet and along her side so that it was fully on the biobed as well. She gurgled gently as she said, "I'm short for my race, so I fit nicely on the biobeds. So, Doc, what's the verdict? Flu with sick time for playing the latest Fallout game for the next three days?"

"You wish Lieutenant, although if we both conspired for the same, I'd be up for the match!" Naiya chuckled.

A gurgle sounded out in Lilura's chest, her expression of a chuckle. "You're on, Doc, when we get a chance to sync up evening schedules." She waited patiently for the physical wrap up, as it were.

Naiya ran off the appropriate test results and logged them all and at the end of the whole assessment she downloaded a short summary for the little datarod she prepared to hand over to the Chief Engineer. "On this datarod is your certificate of fitness for duty and a brief summary of what the assessment revealed. It's an exact replica of the record on your main medical record which of course is securely logged and locked away in the ship's central personnel core, but I'm sure you are already aware of how this works. I just have to tell you for the correct coverage and information sharing." she went on.

"You're very fit and well Lilura - come back and see me next year!" Naiya grinned.

Lilura sat up on the biobed and swung her legs over, while at the same time her tail came up to grip around the datarod to take it from Naiya. She returned the grin and replied, "Next year it is, Doc, thank's so very much." Her tail put the datarod into her waist belt as she headed for the doors to continue working on the Andromeda.
