ON:

She had known something was going on but now that Eddie had split the beans, she had to face this woman herself. Everything was about to change again and she wasn't losing the only life line she felt she still had to this blond counselor. Eddie had told her no don't go barge into things but she was the parent and now she was at the door chime pressed. Probably a few times more than necessary.

True, registering the impatience of the person on the other end of the door called out, "Come in." She found herself face to face with Charlotte. Of course she knew who she was. She wouldn't be a very good counselor if she didn't recognize a face, especially the ex-wife of her now lover. What made her stutter was that she wasn't sure how to address her. Mrs. Reynolds sounded wrong, Charlotte sounded too familiar.

"Come in," she finally managed to get out. "Have a seat, can I get you anything?"

"No .. I no," she said. "I think you know why I am here. My son informed me that your now in a relationship with my ex husband."

"Yes, that is correct." True said, avoiding using her name as a confirmation. She didn't blame Eddie for saying something. It needed to come out anyway."I thought you might have something to say about that."

"Well yes of course … its so soon. You barely know him. And you have no idea what your getting into … this family …." she paced the room feeling like a caged cat. Part of her wanted to yell at her. But her and Jon were no more. She didn't exactly have a right too. She did however have the right to a say in anyone who was going to be a part of her sons life.

She turned and looked at her dead on. "How did this happen and why?"

"You're right, I haven't met most of his family and to be honest with you I'm not much of a spontaneous person. I like to plan things. This time, I just let my heart decide." True shrugged. "It just did. We started talking, it moved from there."

"Jons very good at talking," Charlotte spat. "And you need to know. He has a habit of blonds turning his head. One of the reasons we divorced."

"I'm familiar with the times he cheated on you." True said truthfully, and more calmly than she felt. "Believe me, I am not someone who enters into a relationship lightly." She did love Jon but to be honest she was a little bit worried that they had jumped into this very quickly.

"What are your intentions?" Charlotte asked very bluntly.

True barely held back the snort of laughter. "Charlotte. I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to uproot you in your duties on Betazed, nor Eddie in whatever he might be entitled to. I would very much like to stay as far away from all that as possible, be a wall flower on this ship except for my counseling duties and remain close to Jon. I'm really no threat to you at all. Actually I'd very much like to be friends, I don't have many to be honest."

"Jon already uprooted me from any duties on Betazed by proving I couldn't trust him. I liked our life there but uprooted everything for him. And then it turned out he had betrayed my trust another time," she informed her angrily.

"I think it will be very difficult to be friends considering your sleeping with my ex husband and muscling in on "my" son.

Don't play miss sweet little wall flower with me. Your not a threat to me, but if you and him have any more children. Legitimate ones, a girl say. Then you are a threat to Eddie," she said simply.

"What do you want me to do?" True sighed wearily. "Sign a contract saying if we have any future children they won't be at all involved in Betazoid society?" They would be 3/4 human after all though True somehow suspected she might have a tiny drop of Vulcan DNA in her, probably not enough to be considered worth mentioning. "I'm not muscling in on anyone. Eddie and I just talked for a little bit."

"I'm his mother. I don't want you influencing him, or going to game nights," she retorted. "And you need to get something in your head. If your involved with Jon, your involved with Betazoid society. Any future children you did have couldn't avoid it. Lorena would ensure to that. How do you think I lost custody?

As much as his twin and him bury their heads in the sand, play at Starfleet and try to act like its nothing its huge. You don't just get involved with just him. Its the whole family. It comes with him," she finished.

She smiled inwardly. This one scared easily. She was sure of it.

"This is all moot anyway. We're not getting married. We just figured out we loved each other and are figuring out our place. And I have no idea why you lost custody, it's not really any of my business. I was hoping we could talk like two adults but apparently not so if you'll excuse me. I have appointments with people who actually want my help." True pressed the button on her desk and the door slid open behind Charlotte.

"Oh I'm sure we will be talking again. Don't you worry," she smiled sinisterly before taking her leave.

True shook her head, she couldn't believe the paranoid woman. True supposed that if they had children she'd have to think about their responsibilities on Betazed, but she understood traditions and different forms of government. And she seriously doubted Jonathan's mother, no matter who she was would have a hold on her in such a way. She sighed, locked the door and turned around to stare at the wall.
