Hawkins made his way to the quarters of Lieutenant JG Rosaline Belikov, bearing gifts for her and her little girl. He had heard that LT. Belikov had been ill and that she had been separated from her little one. Taking a page from Captain Letsul while on Avalon Station, Ensign Hawkins remembered something that Captain Letsul had told him. That the lavender plant, the scent of it, helped to create a soothing atmosphere in a room. He hope that this would help the small family out. Also he had a couple of cuddly child safe stuffed animals. A puppy dog and a kitten both soft and comforting to the touch.

He stopped in front of her door, and pressed the chime to let her know someone was there. He took a deep breath and waited. He hoped that she wouldn't mind him just dropping by.

sitting on her lounge with Ziva in her arms, Rose was about to drift off when the door chime jerked her awake. She hadn't expected visitors, but clearly someone was at her door. Placing Ziva down into a small cot next to her, Rose stood up and made her way over to the door. "Yes Ensign? What can I do for you?"

"Sorry to disturb you, Lieutenant. I had heard you've been ill and I wanted to drop these off for you and your little girl. If you are willing, I'd like to have a conversation with you when it is convenient for you." noting that she looked a bit weary.

Rubbing the bridge of her nose, Rose sighed, “alright, come on in. No time like the present” she said, walking back over to the couch and gently sitting down beside her daughter.

Michael placed the lavender plant in a clear spot off to the side, brought over the stuffed animals setting them near Rose then took a seat. He looked at the little girl, smiling gently.

"She is beautiful. Makes me miss my little nieces and nephews." his smile turning a tad bit wistful. His voice low as to not disturb the little one. His gaze turned back to Rose. "I am hoping your recovery is going well."

“Better than expected. We’re not sure how the virus was not detected by medical scans but thankfully it wasn’t able to get put into the ship’s population” Rose answered, a little unsure why the operations chief would be worried enough about her to drop by with gifts, “so what are these things you’ve brought?”

"Well, the lavender plant is to help purify the air and helps young ones and adults when things are stressful. My sister has one in her nursery which she said helps to keep babies calm. The animals well its something a person can use to destress as well. Sorry if I might be treading on boundaries." Michael said, with an apologetic smile.

He then continued " Since I am chief of operations, with the havoc that has happened due to the fake fox; whom I am calling Jane, I had determined that it would be a good idea to get to know the members on the ship. The attack on everyone involved, to me was a wake up call. If we don't know anything about each other, it would be a terrible thing if someone was lost and no-one knew a thing about them, or for that matter, if replaced with a doppleganger."

Rose nodded, “a wise precaution, I am willing to answer anything you wish to know, within reason” she said, looking over at the gifts, “and thank you for the gifts, but you may keep the plant. I rarely have enough time to take care of such things”

"Perhaps I should have brought in a succulent cacti."giving a quick smile."All right some questions to ask. Well one thing I do want to let you know, if there is something that you need to acquire. I'm someone who can work on getting it for you. Okay, may I ask how old your daughter is? Do you have any hobbies you like to do? Foods that you like?"

He stopped at those questions. "Also you may ask me questions too."

"Ziva is almost 6 months old. for hobbies, I enjoy sketching in my spare time, though I haven't had a great amount of time for that lately. as for foods I like, I don't really have a preference. Though, now that I think of it, I do enjoy the occasional bottle of Chateau Picard" Rose replied, thinking over her answers, "now I return your questions to you, any hobbies or preferred foods?"

"I play several instruments, violin, flute and baroque flute plus a little bit of piano. I love to watch old earth movies, have a wide range of music that I like. I read, and I dance but not at the same time." he flashed a quick smile at the last part."I love history which I can blame my mother for. I have more interests, and things I like to do, if you wish to hear more. As for food preferences, I don't have any as long as it tastes good. Though honestly I have a fondness for a triple berry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. "

"that sounds rather....interesting to say the least" Rose replied, processing what she'd just been told. At times her Romulan mind worked a little like a computer, sorting information into files for storage. "why do you play so many instruments? why not pick one to master?"

" I love how music sounds on each instrument I play. When creating a piece of music, knowing what the certain instrument sounds like and feels helps even more in the creative process. Also, each instrument has its own unique hand position which I alternate between. All of which in my opinion, helps me with my martial arts."

Rose was now fascinated, “I’ve never heard of instruments helping with Martial training. Perhaps you could teach me a little”

"Playing an instrument or how it helps in Marital arts, or both?" Michael asked. "All three instruments do help in focusing and finger dexterity." he added with a smile. "I do know martial arts both empty hand and with weapons."

"I've never heard of a flute being a martial weapon. I suppose you could distract someone with it" Rose commented

"Depending on the material the flute is made from, it too can be utilized as a weapon. Have you heard of war fans?" Michael asked.

Rose thought for a moment than shook her head, “no I haven’t, though just by their names I can assume what they are. Tell me about them”

After talking with Rose a little bit more, Michael bid her a quiet farewell, not wanting to disturb Ziva. Hopefully he and Rose will be able to talk more at a later date. For now she definitely needed her rest. Rose was an interesting person, Michael hoped that they could become friends.
