Timeline: MD3 1330 hours

ON:

The SO Rec Lounge 7 was assigned to three starships docked at this time. One of those was for the USS Andromeda, a Galaxy Class Starship. Usually, starship ranks for heavy cruiser and above were Captain/Commander/Lt. Commanders for CO/XO/Department heads. Thus, when a lowly Lt. jg strode in, replete with being an unknown and unusual race, heads turned. The front check in desk asked this 'dragon?/Gorn with fur?/Female Furry with Teeth?/WTH?" for her credentials, she readily supplied them. After a quick check, she was allowed in. Some of the more experienced senior officers already knew this was a senior officer for the newly crewed Andromeda as they would have a typical command structure for light cruisers or destroyers. However, only a few tours in senior officer crews didn't think of this.

A couple of Commanders and Lt. Commanders came over to this 'Dragon Lady' and stopped her. Commander Thervenson, Norwegian, asked, "Now hold on there... lady I presume? This is a Senior Officer workout area. You really should go to your assigned area."

The 'Lady Dragon' gurgled in her chest and stated, "Yes, you presume right, I am a lady, and then good, I am in the correct place. As Chief Engineering Officer of the USS Andromeda, a department head, and in the chain of command, that makes me a Senior Officer, so please, quit assuming rank is the coefficient and realize that training, attitude, knowledge, and experience makes more of what Starfleet looks for. So, may I go change?"

Commander Thervenson raised an eyebrow as he listened, ready to rebut her, but then he noticed the front desk signing that she was legit. He nodded his head and swept his arm, saying, "By all means, My lady, go change. If you want a challenge later, please, come by and see what we are up to."

Instead of intimidating her, the Dragon Lady's smile grew as her eyes twinkled. She replied, "You're on, Dear sir. I will be back shortly. It is hard to find workout companions who can Hold their own." Then, in a sing song voice, she said, "Be Back shortly.."

She went off to the changing rooms, one marked for 'unusual characteristic races'. While starfleet had unisex changing rooms for some time, they still maintained male/female/other changing rooms for those races with stringent needs regarding biological genders. Shortly, one Lilura Siana Karakalakss, Lt jg, CEO of the USS Andromeda, appeared in the doorway wearing a sports halter and workout shorts. The yellow markings along her side and down the outside of her thighs were now readily apparent, matching the markings on her face and muzzle. She had already 'memorized' the auric nervous system signature of Commander Thervenson and made a beeline to the weight benches where he and his officers were working out. The Andorian of his crew was hefting a considerable weight.

Lilura came up to them, waited till the free weight was in its cradle, then coughed to let her appearance be known. When the gentlemen looked at her, she said, "I am here to see what you gentlemen are up to, and for the challenge, yes?"

Several people around the gym, used to that particular grouping and their antics, began moving over to see what new 'fish' was being landed and how much that crew was going to rake in this time. Of course, this created betting opportunities as well.

Jon had been taking some of his ex wife related frustrations out on a punchbag when he noticed a couple of people heading in the direction of the weights. Steadying the bag to a stop he wandered over and nodded at his CEO upon spotting her. "Hiya Lieutenant.

What's happening?" He asked casting an eye on the Andoran.

Lilura nodded Jon's way and said, "Hey Captain. A challenge was extended by these particular officers, and so I came by to accept." She looked at Commander Arthur Thervenson as she continued, "I do believe the Commander here was going to state the terms, yes?"

Arthur chuckled, then said, "Yes, 'she' did accept an offer of a challenge." The Andorian, one Commander Shol Ch'riarrek, stopped his reps to sit up and look over Lilura. Arthur continued, "I am Commander Arthur Thervenson, this is Commander Shol Ch'riarrek, and these two are Lieutenant Commanders Nirem Daugress and Droxive. So, did I understand you correctly in you saying it is hard to find a workout companion who can hold their own?"

Lilura gurgled in her chest as she replied, "Yes, I did say that, as you four look like you can hold your own. So, what's the challenge?"

Arthur chuckled, then looked over at the Andorian. Shol stood up and said, "I will take you on in a dead lift. Whoever can clear and raise the most weight wins." Several people in the crowd groaned. Others were getting excited. A person beside Jon whispered under his breath, "Please don't know about Andorians, please..."

Lilura looked the Andorian over, noticing from his body thermals he had very dense bone and muscle structures, along with cartilage plates under his skin with unique muscle tie ins. This would make him very strong. She smiled, "You look like you can actually lift some weight... you're on. Let's do this."

Shol grinned wide in knowing they had another fish on the hook. Only those who worked with Andorians knew they could lift double their weight as easily as Terran could lift a quarter of theirs, and Shol was a weight lifter to boot. He could lift almost four times his weight, 517 kgs, a touch over 1140 lbs. No one knew about the physiology of the Soliodaran in their midst, except for two, the Soliodaran and her captain.

A guy and gal stepped forward, "Alright, place your bets, everyone, place your bets.. anything from a partial match, to match, to win.. lets go."

Jon watched fighting to keep a slow smiled rising on his face. "Put me in for fifty lat on my Engineer," he said simply walking over to the two in bookie mode. "Gotta back your own staff right, but …." he could sense a couple of people curious and he didn't want them cottoning on. So he put them off the scent. "Another five on the Andorian. Just so my lady don't kill me if I come out with nothing ya know," he winked at them and held his thumb out to press to the offered padd.

The guy, Lieutenant Gorman, gladly took Jon's money, glad to see he was hedging his bets just in case. Of course, a majority of those about bet on Shol outright winning, with a couple actually doing near match. Thus, if the 'dragon' lady turned out to be strong, she could probably get near what Shol could do. But everybody knew an Andorian was the strongest in the Federation. Of course, some of the wiser captains and commanders took a look at Lilura, figured what they knew about Gorns, and decided to bet she would win, that is, those who wagered.

Lt. Gorman and Lt. Ambery held up their hands, "Bets closing in 1... 1... 1... done."

Nirem and Droxive began setting up the free weights on two mats with a space between them. That way each combatant could stare down his/her opponent on the other side as they lifted their weights as part of the game was mental, besides physical. Aurhur led Lilura to her weights, then Shol to his.

Nirem called out, "We have 225 Kg on the bars, repeat, 225 Kg." Gorman and Ambery called out, "Any bets on this amount?" However, there were no takers as everyone was waiting to see what the lady could do. They already knew this was light for Shol. Both contestants took their places. Shol smiled and said, "I'll go first." He reached down, then clean and jerked the weight past his shoulders and on up to balanced upright. Ambery called out, "Mark!". Shol now put the weight down in a fluid motion.

Lilura smiled to him, then reached around the bar and lifted. She clean and jerked past her shoulders and then had the weights over her head. She waited and finally Ambery called out, "Mark!". She fluidly put it down as well. Next to Jon, a gal murmured, "That was unfair.. they had her hold it longer overhead than Shol.. that tires you out quicker."

"You wanna fight the inequality Lieutenant?" Jon walked to Lilura under the guise of handing her a towel. He leaned in keeping his voice low. "I can kick up a stink, make them play fairly. Have you lift the same time as …. he indicated his head to Shol at the opposite side of the studio, "Or you wanna completely make all of these jaws drop and teach them a lesson?" he asked with a sly grin.

Lilura smiled to Jon when he walked over, but her ears and eyebrows showed incredulity at Jon's first question to her. She took the towel to dab at her neck and brow, even though she really didn't need to as she finished listening to his next statements. Realization dawned upon her face as she handed the towel back. She whispered to him, "Ahh, I thought they gave me more time to have a chance to warm up, even though I don't need it." She looked over at Shol, then tapped Jon on his shoulder with her tail, "Let it go, let's see how far they take it. I read Shol's body when he picked that weight up, I can take him. Have fun betting, and please add some for me as custom footwear costs.. a lot."

Jon grinned. "You got it Lieutenant."
