ON:

Exhausted, feeling terrible and barely able to keep to his feet, Syvar managed to make it to the bed after they'd been transported straight to their quarters. "I'm sorry," he murmured apologetically, "I'm sorry for being so much trouble." After all, he'd been told not to go down to the planet and somehow he'd ended up there anyway. Even if he hadn't intended to go, because he had vowed he'd not disobey the orders given. And now he'd broken his vow, and that made him feel even worse.

Amelia rushed over... well, as best she could in her condition... and helped him to remove his uniform, to make him more comfortable. "Hey, it's not your fault," she said in a soft, calming voice as she ruffled his hair as she always did. "And you're never a burden to me. Ever." She added emphatically and kissed him gently on the forehead.

"Are you still feeling dizzy?" She asked, still concerned about him.

"Yes. I know I was given a counter-agent but whatever I was injected with must've been super potent. And I remember being hit with something and after that nothing before seeing you again. I don't know what hit me, but it must've been with force." he didn't even dare to nod as he lay down on the bed, making sure to lie on his side.

Amelia got a medical tricorder and scanned him. "I don't want to risk giving you anything else as it looks like the drugs are almost out of your system." Closing the device, she then lowered the surrounding light level. She got up and went to the replicator, coming back with a tall glass of water which she placed on his bedside table. "From the looks of it, you just need some rest and stay hydrated. Do you want me to stay here with you or would you rather I go into the other room?" she asked, not wanting to crowd him.

"I shouldn't sleep if I have a concussion, I need to be woken up several times," Syvar told her, "I'd prefer you stay here." He gave her a pained smile. "You'd never crowd me...you're my lifesaver." He closed his eyes. "I'm so tired... "

Amelia went around the bed and climbed on next to him, sitting more upright and drew him to her. "Hey! keep those eyes open for now mister. I'll send a coded message to sickbay asking one of the doctors to come down and have a look at you. See if it's safe for you to sleep yet."

She reached and grabbed a PADD from her bedside table and entered the message before setting it down again. "I do remember something strange while I was acting like a child. At one point I fell asleep and I could have sworn I remember talking to you but I was acting normally. It's all so fuzzy now, like a half-remembered dream. Did anything like that happened to you?"

"Yes," Syvar answered sleepily, "like before when we met at home... a sort of safe space maybe?" He couldn't keep his eyes open no matter her 'order' to do so.

Just then the door chime sounded and Amelia called out "Come in." One of the medical staff entered. "Good afternoon Commander, Ensign. The Captain has brief me on the situation. What seems to be the problem?"

"Could you give Syvar a scan and tell us if it's safe for him to sleep?" Amelia told him, the concern clearly showing on her face.

The doctor scanned Syvar with a medical tricorder. After a few moments. "I would say so, but it might be an idea to keep an eye on him and monitor his breathing. The Vulcan mind has some remarkable healing abilities and from the looks of it, I think he should be ok."

Amelia relaxed slightly as his diagnosis. "Thank you Doctor, I'll keep an eye on him and I'll set the computer to monitor his vitals.

"That's a good idea Commander. If anything changes, just call sickbay. If you'll excuse me" and with a friendly nod, he turned and headed for the door.

Amelia let out a sigh of relief. "Looks like you can get some sleep after all."

Syvar snuggled up to her, resting a single hand on her belly as if to find comfort in her and the unborn child. "Wake me at set times," he murmured, still a doctor even when feeling utterly unwell. "Thank you," he then whispered, almost barely audible as his breathing evened out a little, and his body started to sag.

Amelia wrapped an arm around him and tousled his hair like she always did, letting him rest his head on her, placing her other on his on her belly. She spoke to the computer softly. “Computer, monitor ensign Syar’s vital signs and alert me if they go outside the normal range.

The computer replied “Acknowledged.”

As she held him, a tune suddenly popped into Amelia’s head and she started humming it to Syvar as she held him, somehow knowing that his mother had sung this to him when he was young.

The Vulcan's body palpably relaxed as his subconscious registered the familiar and soothing tune.
