ON:

Walking into sickbay, Rose was cradling her right arm in her left as she did her best to keep from screaming in pain. She’d just finished up a training regiment on the holodeck and pushed things a little harder than she should’ve and she payed for it. Looking around, Rose tried to find someone who looked like they weren’t busy. “Hello, is there a doctor in?”

Having made sure Doctor Hope was comfortable in a private ward, and properly monitored, Syvar stepped out from behind the curtains as he heard the call for help. He rushed forward, grabbing a tricorder on the way. "What happened?" He asked, though he could take a fair guess.

“Training accident, I hit the ground a little harder than intended” Rose said with a slight shrug before wincing from the pain, “maybe next time I’ll program an rural training ground rather than a rural one”

"Did you employ the safeties?" Syvar asked, gently leading her to a bed. "Can you move your fingers for me?"

Rose tried to move her fingers but couldn’t manage more than a twinge, “I think that would be a no. As for the safeties, they take the fun out of it, so also no”

"It's against regulations to lower safeties to the point of endangering yourself," Syvar pointed out as he examined her fingers and then her hand. "Can you move move your hand or rotate your wrist?"

Again, all Rose could manage was a slight shake as she tried to move her wrist, “I don’t think I can move my hand at all. As for the safeties, they don’t exist outside of the holodeck, so what’s the point of using them when training?”

"Outside the holodeck you have other factors to ensure your safety, like your crewmates," Syvar lectured as he examined her wrist by gently probing it with his gloves hands. He glanced sideways at the tricorder as he waved the wand over the affected limb. "It is fractured," he added, "do you want to have it fully repaired or shall I apply a cast to keep you from engaging in such activity for a while?"

Rose smiled, “I’ll leave that up to your medical judgment” she said, rather enjoying the lecture from him, “you know what they say, once a Marine, always a marine. We’ve got thick skulls”

"So do Vulcans," Syvar grinned at her, "alright, natural healing it is though I'll give you something to help speed it up just a little. It would have my personal preference and I do speak from experience. Just before transferring here I fell from a tree and broke my wrist. Doctor applied a cast thinking I'd be climbing trees a second time if he didn't." As he was talking to her, providing a distraction, he gave her hand a quick tug to straighten out the bones, then started to apply the plastered gauzes that would make up the cast. "I'll give you something for the pain too."

"hmm, that would help" Rose said, smiling though the pain, "well, at least I know you know what you're doing"

"I should like to think so ma'am," Syvar replied as he pressed a hypospray against the base of her neck before continuing his handywork. "Now....just to give you a few giggles, I can give the final layer a specific colour or pattern... what would you like to have to make this a little lighter on you?"

Thinking over this strange question, Rose have a shrug, “I don't know, how about a nebula or something like that? I guess just be artistic, if that helps?”

Syvar nodded as he set to work, replicating the final layer according to her wishes. After a few minutes he reviewed the final result. It wasn't exactly a nebula but with a little imagination one could certainly see something in it. "Here you go ma'am... do please come back if the pain persists and please refrain from any heavy duty work for the next few days."

Rose smiled, "I will try, but Zeva may have other plans" she said, wiggling her fingers while admiring the artwork. "thank you Doctor"

"You're welcome ma'am," Syvar smiled, "and maybe you should tell Zeva it's doctor's orders."

Rose smiled, “I’ll be use to do that”
