545 words - 1.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Thea, a planet of lush green beauty, of crystal blue waters and a sky that changed colour with the mood of the wind. It usually gleamed a beautiful emerald green with the occasional change to weave in some other colours, but this was the world they had chosen and named.

Many years ago, a group of El Aurian scientists and devout religious believers joined hand in hand and left El Auria in search of a world where both would join hand in hand to find out, to discover how to meet those that came before.

On El Auria there were gifted individuals that lived amongst the normal population. Their abilities changed them to excel in life, to rise about the normalcy of everyday beings to elevate them to some sort of religious and worshiped status.

Some said it was a gift, others that it was simply evolution, that next stage in the El Aurians life cycle.

As El Aurians understanding of them changed myths began to form of miracles performed by these individuals, these Gods/Goddesses. They were given titles of stature, woven into the very fabric of what is now El Aurian folklore and religious teachings. There were great number of them and one by one they began to vanish, to ascend to another plain of living. They left the corporeal bodies behind, gone in a flash of light and beauty to somewhere no-one else knew.

That is what Thea was built on, finding out those secrets.

--

There was never a divide between science and religion, not in the way some Humans regard it. They were a singular force of understanding the galaxy, the universe. They went hand in hand, belief became proof, and speculation became fact or simply incorrect.

Thea’s reason for forming outside the eye of their big brother El Auria was to do things their own way. The El Aurian Grand Council granted them ships of both transport, colonial and science so they could set up a new home in the Beta Quadrant to complete their research in relative peace, but still communicate home with their updates. The research interested some, but not all.

More and more over the thousands of years science has overtaken religion in most aspects on El Auria, or it had before its fall. Some say its fall was down to too many forgetting the old ways and inviting danger and outside forces on themselves, but that is another story.

Thea was merging the two together in hope of a greater understanding. Their ultimate goals were to communicate with their ascended deities, to find a way to join them or at least replicate their abilities that seemed to have skipped all generations since.

What was deemed the next evolutionary step started and ended with them.

So, here they were settled on a new world trying to dig up secrets that were long kept. Other planets, other species around them growing in the lights, others forging ahead in the dark.

Thea’s scientists were on the verge of a breakthrough with opening a door to communication with a higher dimension, they were pleased with how it was all going, and they had religious leaders at their door most mornings for updates.

Soon the Gods would sing.
