“Well number one I have to admit you and chef out did yourselves. What an excellent menu,” he said approving.

He snagged a Bajoran mushroom puff and chewed happily. “Yes I think they will like this and the band.”

He had heard a few of the science and engineering staff had put together a small band called “weird science” and collared them personally this afternoon to come up and play some music.

“We just need some more guests and the guests of honour to arrive now,”

Amelia looked around satisfied. While she had not looked forward to the task, she always put her best effort into anything she did and it turned out she actually enjoyed doing it.

Cassie, her arm linked through Ollies, stepped through into the room, the crowd already building. She had decided to wear the dress she had picked up on Ba'ku, knowing that some of the crew, her friends, would be wanting to see the wedding dress, even if it was more of an evening dress. Simply clean lines, form fitting in pearly white with a single plash of colour. Soft pink roses cutting a swath from her left shoulder across to the the point of where the human heart was located. Simple and elegant heels in a similar pearly white colour. In her hands was the bouquet. One tradition she had not been able to complete on Ba'ku so had decided that it could be done now. She kept it close, planning to toss it a little later on.

"And here's the guests of honour," Jon said loudly. He shook his best friend's hand and then placed a kiss on Cassie's cheek. "Mr and Mrs Stevens everyone."

Kannu clapped the newly married couple into the room. He hadn't a clue who they were as he'd never met them before but was honoured to receive an evening invitation none the less.

Ron smiled slightly but stayed towards the back. He didn't do well with groups of people. He could already feel his nervousness kicking in.

"I hear I'm getting my arse kicked," Oliver said to Jon.

"Nah as a wedding present, I decided to cancel that. Eddie got you both a little something from us too," Jon said pushing a glass of champagne into both of their hands.

Eddie appeared and handed Cassie a box. "I decided on something unique."

Iola stood a little to the side, wearing a long version of her favourite yellow dress, though this one wasn't as vibrant in colour. She watched as more people came in and chose to observe, rather than mingle. She smiled briefly as she spotted the Trill science chief, but otherwise made no effort to draw his attention.

Syvar walked up to Amelia, slipping his arm around her waist. "This looks amazing," he smiled, reaching up to tuck a wayward strand of his unruly hair back behind a delicately pointed ear. "They look happy with it, don't they?"

Amelia placed her hand on his, grateful for his presence. "Yes, they do. I'm happy you're here." She turned and kissed him gently on his cheek, "Come on, we might as well mingle."

Jon pulled his glass up and started clinking it with a teaspoon he had requested specifically for this.

"May I have your attention please. Now its customary to give speeches at weddings and as I didn't get to be best man," he mock glared at Oliver. "I am Captain so I've just decided I'm doing one anyway.

So all of you I ask you to raise your glasses and toast these two here newly weds. Don't worry your arms won't get tired. My speech is going to be like a miniskirt. Long enough to cover the essentials and short enough to hold everyone's attention.

Oliver burst out laughing. "You remembered."

"What that I promised you a decade ago to run that joke when we got to this day. Of course," Jon said.

"So this guy here is one of my best friends. A stable force in my life and practically a brother. This lady here, Cassandra I think we can all agree looks stunning this evening. You sir," he looked back at Ollie, "You certainly got yourself a wonderful lady.

Ollie and Cassie, tonight we celebrate you. We all wish you a lifetime of happiness, love, health, success and laughter ...

"That's an important one," Eddie chimed in nodding his head towards the gift he had given not even been peaked in.

"That it is son," Jon nodded.

"So all that's left for me to say is May you continue to find humour in the bad and appreciation in the good. And may your story and family grow stronger throughout all the years to come. Cheers."

Jon pushed his glass forward in both of their direction, smiled and took a sip.

Slowly, Patrick slid up to Cassie's side and gently touched her arm. "Hi, I'm Patrick and I've only recently arrived. I managed to get you two a quick wedding cake." The young chef smiled shyly, his chef's outfit clearly a bit smudged from all his hard work. "Can I quickly steal you to get your thoughts? It'll only take a few seconds, I promise."

"Of course" she smiled handing her glass to Ollie "Excuse me for a moment".

After excusing herself she followed the newcomer away to a location he was guiding her to. "I have so many things to catch up on after my honeymoon. So many crew changes. "

"It won't take long," Patrick promised as he led the bride to the side, showing her a cake big enough to serve everyone but still quite modest and beautiful. "Do you like it?"

"Its beautiful, thank you!" she said still beaming from ear to ear as she looked over to Ollie and waved him over.

"Oh wow, did you make that?" Ollie asked the other man stood with his wife. "That's amazing."

"I did," Patrick smiled, "I'm a chef sir. And I felt it was the least I could do when I heard you had none to serve."

“Thank you,” Ollie said very impressed. He was already planning the traditional smooshing of cake in Cassies face. “Let’s cut this up shall we love?”

“And then the first dance ….”
